Pray for Matt & Rebecca Hill

The following is an email sent by Rebecca, Matt's wife. Matt is a firefighter here in Huntsville.

Hello everyone,

I want to start by thanking everyone for your prayers, emails and phone calls. It has meant so much to us over the last 24 hours to know just how much we are being prayed for. What happened to Matt yesterday was nothing short of a miracle and the media did not even begin to explain how critical his condition was or just how much God protected him.

At about 12:30, Matt's station responded to a medical call in a bank parking lot. Matt was the first firefighter off of the truck and immediately began tending to the patient inside the car. An elderly lady steered her car into the line of the ATM and attempted to press her brake as she leaned out her window. She pressed the gas instead, sped through the parking lot, hit two firefighters and ran completely over Matt. He was hit in the chest by the car but rolled over so that when the car finally came to a rest, he was pinned underneath with his legs straight out in front of him, bent over double with his chest pressed to his knees. With his body bent he stopped breathing until the car was pulled off nearly 2 minutes later. One of his fellow firefighters resusitated him and he was sent immediately to the ER. After many hours, he was released in a great deal of pain with a broken ankle and a torn MCL for which he will require surgery later this week.

He is now at home and doing very well considering the circumstances. For the most part, we are able to control his pain with medication and he is resting well. We are so thankful that God was with him and that He kept Matt with us. We are also thankful to all of you who prayed for his safety and well being.

As I said before, the phone calls and emails have been so encouraging and we are so grateful for each of you. As the week progresses, we will inform you of any updates.

Rebecca
