Sometime today take a moment of silence to honor those who are/have serving/served this country. Today Micah Gifford will be laid to rest in California at a military cemetery.
May God place His hand of comfort on his family this day and the days to come.

One of my all-time favorite Christmas memories was circa '91. All my sister wanted for Christams was a bike. That was it; simply a bike.
We awoke at the usual o'dark 30 and had to wait for the parents to get up so that we could go get the presents from under the tree. Well in my parents house when you walk out of the hallway and into the living room the foyer is off of the living room. Well parked in the foyer was Jennifer's bike. The funny part was that my parents had her so convinced that she wasn't getting one for Christmas that when she walked past the foyer she stopped, turned, looked at the bike, turned forward again, and walked to the Christmas tree. We unwrapped all the presents and she still hasn't said a word about the bike. My dad finally said "Jenny, isn't there something in the foyer for you?". "No", she replied. "Better make sure and check again", he said.
She got up from the mound of wrapping paper and presents and walked back to the foyer where she then stood in a stupor, let out a shriek, and ran to the bike. She had gotten so convinced that she wasn't getting one that she thought she just imagined what a bike would look like parked there.
We all had a good laugh...
Merry Christmas to all,

I still remember the Christmas that I got my bike. I had waited and waited...
..Then there was the Christmas where I got my basketball goal. I ran in yelling, "A basketball court! A basketball court!" My dad said, "wow! Santa left a whole court!?"
